If theatre is responding to the audience and presenting in a way that is stimulating and enjoyable, then yes, I agree.  Once I know my material I have choice about how I teach it.  I can either stand up and spout off facts (bad teaching) or I can engage my audience (good teaching).  And even if I don't know my stuff well, I can salvage a disaster by pretending I know it better than I do and feeding off my audience.
