When blogging about fashion first came on the scene, Apparel Search was one of the first companies to create a directory of the fashion blogs. We did this to help blog authors find a place to call home on the internet. Sure, their own blog was their actual home, but how could people find them easily. Apparel Search made it a bit easier for independent fashionistas and street bloggers to be found.

Sounds like you have a special connection with your Mom and family, Alex. THANK YOU for sharing with all of us. Your words are a great example of how "learning more" about those we love can make such a huge difference.

This lecture was amazing. It made me laugh... it made me cry tears that I never thought I would cry. Years ago I learned that one of my family members is a survivor and I have always looked up to her from even before that crutial moment. I know why she acts the way she does now, and I appreciate her guidance in my life. However, I learned recently that another family member of mine is a survivor, and it wasn't something I expected to come out. Sadly enough, I didn't learn it from her through her own words, but as a daughter having to discover her mother's past by way of medical records that were taken for the evaluation of her brain after her recent stroke. My mother protected me so adamantly from men. I grew up fearing them, and still do to some extent because of the way she protected me from them. When I discovered her past, I was shocked, and yet completely understood her role as a mother toward me. And now that her state of mind is completely altered by her stroke, I miss her, and I regret everything that I didn't have time to learn from her.

Either way, this lecture helped me to connect even more strongly with her, and my other family member. Needless to say, this is a life changing event that should definately continue on for others.
