This year I attended "Can I Kiss You?" at Western for the second time and it finally clicked with me just how much of an impact the presentation had on me in first year. This past summer my girlfriend told me that she felt very comfortable with me and that she knew she could tell me a secret about herself in confidence.  It was then that she told me that years before we met she had been raped.

At first I could only remember just laying next to her, listening to every detail she wanted to share. And then she turned over, smiled at me and said she couldn't believe how easy it was to talk to me about it. I held her close and told her she was the strongest person I knew. After that our relationship has done nothing but grow stronger and more fulfilling.

Attending "Can I Kiss You" this year made me reflect on that moment in more detail. I realised I learned a lot from that one hour session and that everything I learned had made a really big difference to someone who not only needed it but was very dear to me too. I want to say "thank you", "thank you very much" to everyone involved in this program. The world is a better place because of you.
