Lake Forest College Pities the Fool

Tonight, Lake Forest College made a commitment to asking first.  In fact, they threw a challenge out to those who DO NOT ASK FIRST.  Altogether, they chanted, “I  Pity the Fool Who Doesn’t Ask First” (yes aka The “A” Team).

In the picture to your right is Barbie – a Resident Assistant at Lake Forest College.  Before the main “Can I Kiss You?” presentation, the RAs and I met for a “Train the Trainer” session.  The group was very open-minded to new ideas and you could clearly see their passion for wanting to be great leaders for their residents.

Patrick, thanks for making each aspect of today run smoothly!!  ENJOY the video below of all the incoming students “pitying the fool.”  LEAVE A COMMENT below and I will personally respond!

“Like” page on FaceBook – now we are making waves

You have to love FaceBook for the medium it provides everyone. Today, we discovered someone started a “Like” page against asking for a kiss (specifically the phrase “Can I Kiss You?“).  In fact, this person actually is using the BUTTONS we provide here on our website for their image on their FaceBook “Like” page (yes OUR button with our saying and our website).

A PR expert once told me the day websites and people are mocking you – is the day you’ll know when your mission is effecting people on a mainstream level.  For us, we simply find it encouraging to know people’s beliefs are being so challenged that they  are creating online mediums to discuss it!

By the way, did you know we have a “Friend” page on our FaceBook Fan Page (click here).

Sexual assault, alcohol & supporting survivors @ Wake Forest

WOW!  Wake Forest University knows how to promote an educational event addressing sexual assault, intimacy, dating, and alcohol.  Better yet, they know how to get RESULTS!  Last night, over 1100 students (over 25% of their student body) attended the “Can I Kiss You?” program in Wait Chapel.  The team on campus who was responsible for bringing me to speak was a DYNAMITE combination of talent, expertise, and passion.  They worked diligently with several organizations and groups (Athletics, Greek Life, and the Student Center — all which showed up in big numbers).

As you scroll down through this blog posting, you will see video footage from the event.  Join the Wake Forest students in making a commitment by signing the “Pledge for Action” here.

High school students take action on intimacy & sexual assault!

Too often, the media and entertainment industry (TV news shows, gossip magazines, & online new sources) focuses so much attention on negative and/or dangerous choices male and female teenagers engage in – that they miss a lot of the positive choices high school students make concerning intimacy, dating, sexual activity, and supporting sexual assault survivors every day in our country.   We were honored to hear our “Can I Kiss You?” program inspired teenage students in Wisconsin at Lodi High School, Portage High School and Wisconsin Dells High School to continue the messages of “Asking First,” “Opening a Door,” and “Being a Friend” throughout their high school careers. They created an “AWARENESS DAY” at their schools and in their communities.  In addition, they are already working on creating ideas for next school year AND concepts to be practiced over this summer which encourage safer and healthier decisions for everyone.  They shared pictures with us of males and females taking active roles in making educational posters addressing consent, respect, boundaries, supporting sexual assault survivors ,and dealing with sexual intimacy in high schools. The posters were being put up around the schools AND in popular community places of business for students to see throughout the summer.  The teenagers told us the poster making was motivated by the “Do You Ask?” posters addressing consent at http://www.DoYouAsk.org

Regardless of where you are located geographically, send a note to their Principals and give them a big Kudos for being role models to others.  Here are the 3 e-mail addresses:
