Consent Apps are Potentially Dangerous for Teens & Adults

Consent expert and speaker, Mike Domitrz, discusses why Consent Apps are awful and potentially dangerous for teens and adults as part of a series of videos for February and Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month.

A new fad in the world of teaching consent education in middle schools, high schools, and college campuses is firms creating “Consent” apps. If you are worried about being charged with any form of sexual violence – sexual assault or sexual harassment, having someone tap buttons on an app to prove everything was okay just shows how much you misunderstand consent. Consent means you always have the right to change your MIND with any sexual activity. Always. Using the app doesn’t stop someone from being able to change their mind right after they said “Yes” on the app. So what good is the app? In fact, it can be dangerous because people will fear coming forward after agreeing to the app and then being sexually assaulted.
