Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines Video & Miley Cyrus

If you listen to any mainstream radio station that plays Top 40 Pop / R&B, you’ve heard Robin Thicke’s song “Blurred Lines” many times. As a person who loves good dance music, I would turn the song up when it started playing on the radio. The beat is catchy . . . UNTIL I just saw the video and paid attention to the words and the messaging.

Watch below as a group of teenager’s analyze the music video.

What are your reactions to the video and the teenagers’ comments?

MTV VMAs, Robin Thicke,”Blurred Lines”, and Miley Cyrus.
Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke performed this song at the MTV VMA (Video Music Awards). The controversy about the performance was how supposedly Robin Thicke looked “uncomfortable” with Miley Cyrus grinding on him. If that is the case, the irony is incredible. As you learn in the video above, Robin Thicke has no problem being in his own music videos with females who are asked to wear uncomfortable clothing to discuss the “blurred lines” of whether you respect a female or not. In his uncensored video, he has no problem singing next to topless women throughout the video.

Several people after the MTV VMA show implied Robin Thicke was uncomfortable with Miley Cyrus because she shouldn’t be dancing that way against a married man. Maybe she had just finished watching his video and simply thought that was the whole point of the song in the first place.

To summarize:
Robin Thicke sings a song that degrades women, creates a sexually degrading video, and everyone focuses on Miley Cyrus dancing LIKE THE VIDEO Robin Thicke created. Who should the focus of this conversation actually be on?
